TAE A SUPERMARKET

We all do what we can in times of need. Whether it’s looking after your family or helping your neighbours. There are those however who look after the rest of us, our nurses and police officers and supermarket workers and delivery drivers and all those without whom life would function just a little bit harder.

As for those of us whose professions are not on the front line we just do what we can to be helpful and keep ourselves and others positive. Since I’m fed up seeing empty shelves I put pen to paper for a short poem. Poetry is a great way for kids to develop reading and listening skills and an easy way to express feelings.

TAE A SUPERMARKET

Coronavirus has came to oor toon.

It’s important that we dinnae let it get us doon.

Nae cafe, nae uni, nae pubs nae clubs.

Nae high fives.nae cinema, nae schools, nae hugs.

Oor emergency services corona will test.

But they lads an lassies really are the best.

Supermarkets lock up your trolleys.

Pit an end to this panic buying.

With hand baskets only

the public will see that yer tryin.

So nae need tae be greedy

it’s no that big a toon.

Food is not scarce

there’s enough to go roon.

This won’t last forever

then we’ll all have a sup.

Covid 19, yer number is up.
